I'm in the delete camp. I made the best of 62.4 mpg with a full exhaust upgrade from rawtex and a stage 2 Malone tune. DPF delete also gives it more turbo noises! The entire EGR delete process takes a savvy diesel tech about a day to complete, including taking out the DEF system, removing the catalytic converter and DPF, and installing a new exhaust. I have an 06 auto bew golf, currently thinking about the egr delete and possibly a tune. I would say keep it intact for as long as possible, within reason. When the EGR is blocked, it is overheated. All my posted mpg are hand calculated. It helps in reducing the emission of NOx by adding a little amount of exhaust gas to seep out. I expect to be in the 37-39 MPG range as I run thru this set of tires.
